The fire at a factory in the city of Naka was the result of a power surge in one of the cars. According to the latest reports, he damaged 23 devices used in semiconductor manufacturing. Restoring an enterprise to work will take longer than previously anticipated.

Renesas, which has about 30% of the global automotive microcontroller market, expects production to start within a month, but it will take up to four months to recover to pre-fire levels.

The incident came amid a chip shortage hitting the industry. Obviously, a prolonged outage at the factory will exacerbate the shortage.
