Authorities in Tokyo, Japan, held a missile evacuation exercise on Monday (6) to help residents prepare amid growing concerns over North Korea’s ballistic missile test launches.
Around 60 residents participated in the exercise, with one of the groups simulating an evacuation scenario inside a metro station.
Participants gathered on the ground floor of Nerima Station before being led to the lower level by local authorities, where the group crouched and covered their heads.

Mutsumi Takahashi, an official at the Tokyo Disaster Prevention Division, told reporters that the exercise came after increasing demands from the government amid an increase in the number of missiles launched since last year.
These drills should continue to educate residents about what to do in the event a launch lands over or passes over Japan, he added.
North Korea, with nuclear weapons, has regularly launched various types of weapons, from short-range and cruise missiles to intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) with the potential range to reach the continental United States.
The country fired 59 missiles in 2022 and most recently fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea off its east coast on September 13 while its leader, Kim Jong Un, was on an official visit to Russia. .
