Japan: “Empress of Terror” free after 20 years

Fusako Sigenobu is a founding member of the Japanese Red Army (JRS), an organization that sowed terror in the 1970s and 1980s. She is now free after serving a 20-year sentence in Japan.

The Japanese Red Army was one of the most threatening extremist organizations in the world, as it managed to inflict deadly blows through hijackings, hostages and kidnappings. He was born in the early 1970s, through the anti-Vietnam War movement, and his ideology was summed up in the destruction of capitalism.

Sigenobu is now 76 years old. She was once called the “red queen” or “empress of terror”. She was arrested in 2000 in her hometown, to which she returned illegally after living abroad for years. She herself announced the dissolution of the ICS from her cell in 2001.
