Japan: The main currency diplomat, mimura, states that the US

Atsushi Mimura, Vice Minister of Finance of Japan for International Affairs and the main currency official, said Thursday morning “that US did not discuss the levels of foreign exchange at the Meeting of Finance Ministers.”

Additional comments

He reaffirmed that the market should determine the exchange rate.

He does not believe that there is any gap in the US understanding.

Finance Minister Kato agreed with Besent that exchange rates should be established by markets.

Market reaction

USD/JPY It maintains its trade within the intact range near the levels of 143.50, now quoting to 143.31, lowering 0.31% in the day.
