The ship Kazu I set sail yesterday morning with 24 passengers, including two children, and a two-member crew for a tour along part of the Siretoko Peninsula, a protected natural area in the northeastern part of the northern island of Hokkaido, despite bad weather forecast in the area.
The crew sent an alarm signal at 13:13 local time (07:13 Greek time), warning that the ship was flooding and had begun to sink, as it had tilted 30 degrees.
The port arrived in the area after three hours of intensive searches, which have continued since then and in which the police, the army and the fishermen of the area are involved, while air means have been developed.
