The Japanese company Line, known for the messenger and social platform of the same name, plans to launch its own platform for trading non-fungible tokens (NFT) in April.
Called Line NFT, the platform will run on the company’s own private blockchain, according to local publication Coinpost. Users issuing NFTs on this platform will be able to store their tokens in the Line Bitmax wallet, respectively, and the exchange of tokens will be possible only through this wallet.
The messenger operator has entered into partnerships with several major Japanese entertainment companies. One such partner is game publisher and developer Square Enix. The platform will also feature tokens from the creators of the popular Patlabor manga.
One of the first on Line NFT will be the sale of Yoshimoto Stamp tokens, and in the future these NFTs can be used for avatars in the Line messenger. The company also plans to add the use of collection tokens for stickers.
Square Enix previously announced plans to bring one of its games into the metaverse, promising users the ability to create a world and invent stories.
