Reuters, citing the CEO of ALI Technologies, reported that the Japanese startup has officially started selling its flying motorcycle (hoverbike) called the XTurismo Limited Edition. The manufacturer began accepting orders for a new vehicle yesterday, October 26, at a cost of $ 680,000, but potential buyers still cannot get their hoverbike instantly – deliveries of the flying motorcycle are scheduled for the first half of 2022. At the same time, the head of the startup considers the target audience of XTurismo Limited Edition to be fans of supercars who prefer racing tracks.
This is due not only to the cost of the vehicle, but also to the legal framework of Japan. The startup was unable to obtain a certificate allowing the XTurismo Limited Edition to be used on public roads in the local Japanese market, so hoverbikes can only be used in indoor areas or racing tracks. It is for this reason that the Japanese company plans to sell a flying motorcycle to fans of high-speed tracks – for them it will be very interesting entertainment, especially considering that the device is capable of accelerating to 100 kilometers per hour, being in flight at such a speed for 40 minutes.
In order to achieve such impressive results, the designers of the startup installed an internal combustion engine on the hoverbike – it acts as a power plant for two main propellers of a larger diameter. There are also electric motors that run on built-in batteries and drive four additional smaller propellers. It is worth noting that ALI Technologies sees potential in their aircraft not only in the field of entertainment, but also as a transport for rescue services – for example, a hoverbike can allow you to quickly get to a victim in the mountains or hard-to-reach areas.
