JD Vance reacted on Tuesday (6) to the choice of Tim Walz as vice president of the Democratic Party and said that the announcement shows “how radical Kamala Harris is”.
“Obviously the big news of the day is that Tim Walz has been named vice president, and he’s actually the likely vice president for Kamala Harris. In my view, it just underscores how radical Kamala Harris is,” Vance said on the plane to an event in Philadelphia.
“I think they make an interesting team. Tim Waltz allowed protesters to burn down Minneapolis in the summer of 2020. Then the few who got caught, Kamala Harris helped get them out of jail,” Vance said.
The senator’s speech refers to the protests against the death of George Floyd that took to the streets of Minnesota in 2020. At the time, Tim Walz was already governor of the state. He was harshly criticized for allowing the protests to become violent and for delaying the activation of the National Guard to contain the disturbance.
Donald Trump’s vice president also criticized other government policies and said that Walz “proposed defunding the police, just like Kamala Harris did.”
Vance held a campaign event on Tuesday (6), in the same city and on the same day, where Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will hold their first rally together in the next few hours.
