It sounds strange, but in fact, the car as a whole is quite unusual. Externally, this is actually a regular Wrangler Rubicon, which is known for its off-road capabilities. It is simply impossible to preserve these very possibilities with the classic placement of electric motors on the axles, so Jeep took a different path.

In the Wrangler Magneto, the electric motor is located in the place of the internal combustion engine, that is, under the hood. It powers the conventional, albeit modified, Wrangler transmission, combining a six-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case.

To keep the powertrain familiar from petrol versions, Jeep engineers also had to tune the electric motor to match the original 3.6-liter V6. As a result, the electric power plant produces 285 hp. and 370 Nm of torque, and the power and torque curves differ only slightly. At the same time, of course, the kickdown allows you to get everything at once, thanks to which the car accelerates to 96 km / h in 6.8 seconds.

The car has four battery packs. One is located in the place of the fuel tank, the other is installed across the frame, the third is nestled in the upper part of the engine, and the fourth is installed in the rear compartment for things. The total capacity is 70 kWh. As a result, the car, which was already difficult in the original, weighs 2.6 tons.

Now the Wrangler Magneto is going to be tested in difficult conditions. As already mentioned, while this is a concept, but it may well turn into a production car.
