Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck open up about ending their engagement in 2004

Jennifer Lopez revealed the reasons that led to the end of his engagement with Ben Affleck in 2004.

The 54-year-old pop superstar walked down the aisle with the Hollywood actor, 51, in 2022, after the couple decided to rekindle their romance 20 years after their relationship ended.

Now, the muse has revealed that the “pressure of fame” was a determining factor in the duo putting an end to their relationship just three days before their wedding years ago.

“Ben and I broke up three days before our wedding. We had a grand wedding planned… 14 ushers and bridesmaids, and three days before, we simply crumbled under the pressure,” she said in her new documentary “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story” .

Ben added: “When Jen and I broke up before, the catalyst for that was the huge scrutiny surrounding our private lives.”

However, the singer admitted that their previous breakup put them on a path to discovering themselves and becoming better people.

When Ben asked if he was forgiven for ending their engagement, J-Lo responded, “Yes, I think I have completely forgiven you. I think I need to forgive myself for some things.”

The actress revealed, shortly before releasing her ninth studio album, “This Is Me…Now”, that her reunion with Ben was a “surreal miracle!.

“I wrote 'This Is Me… Then' when Ben and I fell in love 20-something years ago. As fate would have it, we returned to each other's lives. And on the 20th anniversary of 'This Is Me'… So, I announced that I was going to do 'This Is Me… Now'. It was inspired by the surreal miracle that had happened,'' JLo explained to the newspaper “Metro''.

“Him coming back into my life and the two of us coming together in a way we never expected, which was the inspiration to get into the studio. The album just flowed out of me”, he celebrated.
