The unwavering support of his countries NATO in Ukraine, the Secretary General of NATO underlined, Jens Stoltenberg during a meeting with Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov today in Brussels. G.G. of NATO and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine discussed the latest developments on the battlefield and Ukraine’s urgent military needs.
“With winter expected to complicate the fighting, Mr. Stoltenberg stressed that Allies are committed to strengthening political and practical support for Ukraine as it defends itself against the Russian invasion,” says a NATO statement, as reported by APE-MPE . G.G. reiterated, that NATO will provide long-term support to Ukraine to make Ukrainian forces fully interoperable within NATO and bring them even closer to the Alliance.
The meeting also discussed Ukraine’s path to NATO membership and its reform efforts. G. Stoltenberg reiterated that Ukraine will become a member of NATO when all Allies agree and when the conditions are met. The Stoltenberg-Umerov meeting follows the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of Foreign Ministers last Wednesday, November 29. Mr Stoltenberg previously met with Minister Umerov in Kiev in September and at the NATO Defense Ministers meeting in October.
