Jesy Nelson officially quits the Little Mix band after 9 years.

After expressing gratitude toward fans for their love and saying that the years she has spent in the Little Mix band have been the best years of her life, Nelson went on to say that being in the band has recently had a negative effect on her emotional well-being. According to her she finds it difficult to stay in the band and live up to the expectations of others.

She said that she needs to spend some time with her loved ones, doing things that fulfill her. She also said that she’s prepared to set out onto the next chapter of her life —right now, she’s not sure how things are going to turn out, but she’s hopeful that she will receive the support of her loved ones.

“There comes a time in life when we need to reinvest in taking care of ourselves rather than focusing on making other people happy, and I feel like now is the time to begin the process.

Jesy hopes that the girls will continue to make music that people love

She thanked her little mix girls Perrie Edwards, Leigh Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall saying that they she had made the best memories with her former bandmates that she would never forget. She also wished them best of luck for their dreams and said that she hopes that the girls will continue to make music that people love.

A statement posted to the group’s social media read “After an amazing nine years together Jesy has made the decision to leave Little Mix.”

“This is an incredibly sad time for all of us but we are fully supportive of Jesy.”

Last month, after she was absent alongside her bandmates at a number of gatherings, it was reported that Nelson would be taking an “extended” break from Little Mix for “private medical reasons.

“We will not be issuing any further comment currently and ask media to please respect her privacy at this time.”

Nelson wasn’t present at the live finale of the group’s talent show, Little Mix: The Search, and from their hosting gig at the MTV Europe Music Awards the following day.

At the beginning of 2020, Nelson’s Odd One Out documentary received the Best Factual prize at the National Television Awards.

The documentary was based on the effects of cyberbullying and how Nelson had been a victim of it, and how it affected her mental health.

Confetti, Little Mix’s sixth album was released last month.

The three girls will continue to make music as a trio

However, Little mix is far from over, as the three girls will continue to make music as a trio. For next April, the band is scheduled to set out on a U.K. tour which was initially postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.

“We are still very much enjoying our Little Mix journey and the 3 of us are not ready for it to be over. We know that Jesy leaving the group is going to be really upsetting news for our fans. We love you guys so much and are so grateful for your loyalty and continued support of all of us. We’re looking forward to seeing so many of you on tour,” the statement further read.

Their group was first formed in 2011, on The X Factor, after all four initially tried out as solo artists, and were the first group to win the competition
