JetBlue planes damaged after collision at Boston airport

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Thursday (08) that it will investigate the collision between two JetBlue Airways planes at Boston International Airport. The accident damaged both planes but left no injuries.

The incident occurred when an Airbus A321neo hit another Airbus A321 that was on the runway and had its winglet, an appendage at the tip of the wing, damaged. The impact also caused damage to the tail of the other aircraft, JetBlue and the FAA said.

The planes were taken out of service for repairs.

Collisions like this on the track are rare in the United States. However, last month, an All Nippon Airways Boeing 777 was taxiing at Chicago O'Hare International Airport when the left winglet struck the stabilizer of the Delta Air Lines Boeing 717. No injuries were reported and the FAA is investigating.
