A jewelry store was robbed inside a shopping mall, in Contagem, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte (MG), on Tuesday night (17).
According to the Military Police of Minas Gerais, the team was called to respond to an incident at around 7:20 pm at a jewelry store in Shopping Itaú Power, located on Avenida General David Sarnoff.
In contact with the manager of the establishment, the police understood that two suspects arrived at the store, at which point one of them allegedly showed the attendants a photo of a ring on a cell phone and asked to see the models of products available at the location.
While the saleswomen were still sitting, the criminal presented something similar to a firearm and announced the robbery and asked the saleswomen for the key to the showcase, where the rings were located, which were handed over to the second man.
Using the key, the criminals went to the window and removed the ring display from the store. The perpetrators then left towards the main entrance of the mall, taking the jewelry and also the key to the display case. According to the manager, 36 silver rings and 84 gold ring replicas were taken, however, she was unable to inform the approximate value stolen.
According to the police, the manager reported that the store has a camera monitoring system that recorded the incident and is available to the courts and police, if necessary.
In a statement, Shopping Itaú Power reported that the PM was called to monitor an incident on the premises.
Also in a statement, the mall stated “there was no disturbance at the location or threat to the physical integrity of customers”.
When contacted, the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) reported that “it is investigating the circumstances, motivation and authorship of the robbery recorded, last night (17), in a jewelry store located in a shopping mall, in Contagem”
According to the corporation, investigations are ongoing in order to identify and locate the suspects.
