Nobel was the inventor of dynamite during the 19th century, and was treated by the press at the time as a man whose legacy was war. When he died in 1896, in an attempt to change his image, he donated 94% of his fortune to a foundation, which would later give rise to the award. “The organization would value the following areas: peace, literature, medicine, physics and chemistry”, explained Martins.

From 1901 onwards, people who contributed to society in these segments began to be chosen and awarded. “The Nobel name has stayed for eternity. And the legacy of Alfred Nobel is associated with peace, culture and science”, said the expert.
