Ten years after the death of the boy Joaquim, the Ribeirão Preto Jury Court sentenced this Saturday (21) his stepfather, Guilherme Raymo Longo, to 40 years in prison for qualified murder. The boy’s mother was acquitted of the crime.
After six days of proceedings, led by judge José Roberto Bernardi Liberal, 31 witnesses heard, including the interrogation of the defendants, the case was concluded.
The defendant was found guilty for a futile reason, using cruel means, using a resource that made it impossible to defend the victim, in addition to being committed against a person under fourteen years of age.
According to the São Paulo Court of Justice, the jury’s decision was announced at around 10:15 pm this Saturday, ending the case. Longo received a sentence to be served in an initial closed regime, and preventive detention was maintained.
