Joe Biden: ‘God save the queen’ ends speech on gun ownership

The phrase “God save the Queen” used by the president of the USA, Joe Bidenconcluding yesterday Friday (6/16) his speech on limiting gun ownership in Connecticut.

Addressing the crowd that had gathered in West Hartford to watch his speech, he explained that he could not linger to greet the participants, adding that he would pose for some commemorative photos.

“Okay; God save the queen, man”80-year-old Biden said before turning his gaze toward the exit.

A White House spokesman said the president “addressed someone in the crowd”without giving further details.

But even if Biden were indeed addressing a British person, it would be a blunder to use the phrase “God save the Queen”, given that the British throne is now occupied by King Charles III, not Queen Elizabeth II – at the funeral which was attended by the American president.

Unsurprisingly, footage of President Biden’s speech went viral on social media and was variously commented on by Republican supporters. “Joe Biden has lost it,” commented Leo Terrell on Fox News.

There are not a few Americans who believe that, due to his advanced age, Biden should not run for a second presidential term, since – in case he is re-elected – he will be 86 years old at the end of it.
