If this happens on Tuesday, it will coincide with the completion of four years since the announcement of his candidacy in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election (April 25, 2019), the same source, who asked not to be named, told Reuters.
Biden has long said he intends to seek a second term — last week he said he would start campaigning “relatively soon” — but the delay in the official announcement has raised doubts among Democratic voters about whether the 80-year-old president he would be able to serve a second four-year term.
In recent weeks, Joe Biden has laid out the agenda of issues expected to dominate his election campaign, secured the green light from his personal doctor that his state of health allows him to seek re-election, asked the Democrats to reorganize party events to facilitate the announcement of his candidacy, and he chose Chicago to host the Democratic convention ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
