Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner speak out about tentative custody agreement

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have spoken for the first time after reaching an agreement over custody of their two daughters.

The musician and actress shared a joint statement with the “People” magazine website, after the temporary custody agreement for Willa, 3 years old, and Delphine, 15 months old, was signed, valid until the beginning of 2024.

“After successful and productive mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in loving homes in both the US and the UK. We hope to be great co-parents,” the former couple said in a statement.

According to documents obtained by the website, the agreement only extends until January 7th. Before that date, it will be necessary “for the parties to jointly submit a status report letter”, before December 23, describing the status of the mediation between the two at that time.

The settlement comes after Sophie sued her ex-husband for wrongful withholding, claiming Jonas was withholding their passports and not allowing their daughters to return to England.

The complaint against the musician called for “the immediate return of children wrongfully removed or withheld,” with Sophie’s legal team stating that the “wrongful retention” began on September 20.

Shortly after, Jonas released a statement disputing the claims and stating that he believed the two had reached an agreement to work on a parenting plan together.

Jonas and Sophie tied the knot in 2019. Jonas filed for divorce in Florida earlier this month. “After four years of a wonderful marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they wrote in a joint statement to announce their plans to split.

“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but in truth, this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for ourselves and our children.”
