It was about a month before the US midterm elections when Pennsylvania lieutenant governor and then-senate candidate John Fetterman, made statements about Turkey’s behavior towards religious freedoms. He was against him in the electoral battle the well-known from his presence on television the surgeon Mehmet Oz, originally from Turkey, who was running for the seat for the Republicans.

“As a US Senator, I will support the struggle of the Greek Orthodox for religious freedom in Turkey. I strongly believe that Turkey should protect the religious freedoms of the Greek Orthodox Church, recognize Bartholomew as Ecumenical Patriarch, not interfere in the election of his successor, return confiscated property to the church, turn Hagia Sophia back into a museum and reopen the Halki School”, he declared.

O John Fetterman with the beard, the casual wear and arm tattoos, managed to unseat Trump’s Republican nominee Mehmet Oz. As American media comment, Fetterman’s popularity, with his special appearance, is due to his image that refers to “person next door” touching the soul of the average American.

Fetterman attributed his campaign success to tactics “battle in every county, for every vote” in which he starred while circulating on the road, and conversing with citizens dressed simply trying to bring it back Democratic Party at the forefront, in working-class areas of predominantly white voters, who appear to be increasingly alienating the Democratic Party.
