Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Will Get Hollywood Opportunity, Experts Say

After accusations of domestic violence, recordings of violent fights and revelations of nasty text messages, Hollywood is ready to take it back Johnny Depp Or thember heard ?

“Pirates of the Caribbean” star Depp said a US jury gave him his life back when it awarded him a near-total victory in his defamation fight with ex-wife Heard on Wednesday.

Jurors supported Depp’s three claims that Heard defamed him and guaranteed him an additional $10 million in damages. Heard won a counterclaim that Depp’s attorney defamed her. The jury awarded Heard $2 million.

The verdicts came at a cost. Over the course of six weeks, the televised trial showed details of a troubled marriage and evidence that Depp and Heard admitted was embarrassing.

Still, Depp is expected to be offered new film roles now that the US jury has backed him after a years-long legal battle, said Clayton Davis, senior awards editor at Hollywood publication Variety.

“I think Johnny Depp will work again. He’s going to get a big project,” Davis said after the verdict, noting that Hollywood offers many examples of stars who have recovered from public scandals.

Robert Downey Jr., Mel Gibson, Hugh Grant, Roman Polanski and others found new opportunities after serious allegations of misbehavior, criminal convictions, or wrongdoing.

Kevin Spacey has starred in a few independent films after being accused in 2018 of sexual misconduct, charges he denies.

Juda Engelmayer a crisis communications expert who represents Harvey Weinstein and others, said he believes Depp’s strong fan support on social media during the trial will bolster his standing in Hollywood.

Amber Heard, who has a much smaller background in Hollywood, was criticized on social media during the trial, but Engelmayer believes she will also have new acting opportunities. Before the trial, Heard filmed his role in “Aquaman 2”, which is scheduled to be released in March 2023.
