Johnny Depp gets a standing ovation at concert in England after trial

One day after the end of the trial in the defamation case against Amber Heard , Johnny Depp received a standing ovation at the Sage Gateshead concert hall in Gateshead, northern England, where he performed alongside guitarist Jeff Beck.

Depp had already performed with the English musician last Sunday in Sheffield, days before the verdict was read on Wednesday. The actor did not appear in Virginia court because he was in England.

A seven-person jury in Virginia ruled Wednesday (June 1) that the actress defamed her ex-husband Johnny Depp and awarded him $10.35 million in damages.

The jury also ruled that Heard was defamed, awarding her $2 million.

Heard will appeal the jury’s decision that she defamed her ex-husband when she claimed she was a survivor of sexual assault, her lawyer said Thursday (June 3).

During the trial, Depp said he never beat or sexually abused Heard and argued that she became violent during their relationship. Heard said she slapped Depp, but only in defense of herself or her sister.
