Johnson: Brexit shows Britain loves freedom in the same way Ukrainians fight Russian invasion

LAST UPDATE: 17:52

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today that it would be wrong to normalize relations with President Vladimir Putin after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to Reuters.

“To try to normalize relations with Putin after that, as we did in 2014, would be to make exactly the same mistake again,” Johnson told a Conservative party conference.

He also said that Brexit shows that the British people love freedom in the same way that the Ukrainians are fighting the invasion of Russia, comments that were characterized by bad taste by opposition MPs.

In the presence of the Ukrainian ambassador to Britain, Johnson told the Conservative Party congress that it was the instinct of the British, as well as the Ukrainians, to choose freedom every time.

“I can give you some famous recent examples. When the British voted in favor of Brexit, in such large, large numbers, I do not think it was because they were even slightly hostile to foreigners. It is because they wanted to be free to do things differently. “and that this country can be self-governing,” Johnson said.
