THE director of “Joker: Delirium for Two”, Todd Phillips, explained the logic behind his decision to turn the villain’s film sequel into a musical.
“There’s a romance to Arthur in the first film, like when he dances in the bathroom. Arthur had the music inside him. That was a logical starting point for the sequel,” Phillips said.
Singer and actress Lady Gaga, who plays Harley Quinn in the film, also commented on this characteristic of the character she plays romantically with: “This music inside him is messy, it’s chaotic, it’s expressing his complexity to the world.”
“Joker: Delirium for Two” hits Brazilian cinemas on the day October 3rd .
In the plot, Arthur Fleck is institutionalized in Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as the Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only finds true love, but also finds the music that has always been inside him.
In addition to Phoenix and Gaga, names like Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2”), Catherine Keener (“Being John Malkovich”), Brendan Gleeson (“The Banshees of Inisherin”) and Jacob Lofland (“Bandit Love”) make up the cast.
