JOLTs job openings rise to 6.6 million in December from 6.5 million expected

  • JOLTs US job openings increased slightly in December.

The number of vacant positions on the last business day of December was 6.6 million, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced Tuesday in its latest Summary of Job Vacancies and Turnover (JOLTs) on Tuesday. This reading was higher than the market expectation of 6.5 million.

“Hires decreased to 5.5 million, while total layoffs changed little to 5.5 million,” the publication read.
