The number of job vacancies on the last working day of June reached a new high of 10.1 million, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced Monday in its latest Job vacancy and turnover summary (JOLTS) Monday. This reading was higher than the market expectation of 9.28 million.
“Hires increased to 6.7 million and total separations amounted to 5.6 million,” the publication also revealed. “Within separations, the termination rate increased to 2.7%. The rate of layoffs and layoffs remained unchanged at 0.9%, equaling the low of the series reached last month.”

The US Dollar Index it rose slightly after this report and was last seen a 0.07% rise on the day at 92.84.
