The number of vacant positions on the last business day of July reached a new high of 10.9 million, announced the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. in your latest Job Rotation & Vacancy Summary (JOLTS) on Wednesday. This reading was higher than the market expectation of 10 million.
“Total hires and separations changed little to 6.7 million and 5.8 million, respectively,” the publication read. “Within separations, the resignation rate was unchanged at 2.7%, while the rate of layoffs and layoffs changed little at 1.0%.
The US Dollar Index did not show an immediate reaction to this report and was last seen rising 0.2% on the day to 92.70.
