Jonas Brothers: understand what led to the brothers' separation in 2013

This Tuesday (16), the Jonas Brothers take the stage and perform a unique presentation in Brazil . The brothers' show, which takes place at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo, will be the first since the trio's return, which separated in 2013.

Brothers Joe, Kevin and Nick Jonas began their careers in the early 2000s, when they gained popularity through Disney Channel series and films. The group's first album was released in 2006.

Some other albums were released in the following years, until 2013, when the trio announced they were splitting up . The news was released shortly after the cancellation of 19 shows which had been motivated after a disagreement over the group's musical direction.

In interview with People on the occasion, Kevin first released the news and mentioned, “It’s over for now.” His brother Joe, who was 24 at the time, called it a “unanimous decision”.

The portal also mentioned that The three decided to go their separate ways after Nick Jonas spoke out during a meeting on October 3rd.

“I was feeling kind of stuck,” Nick said. “I needed to share my heart with my brothers,” he told People.

It is also worth mentioning that in the years before their separation, the brothers started individual projects: Kevin and his wife, Danielle, had a reality show on TV and were expecting their first daughter. Joe and Nick have released solo albums and expanded into the field of acting.

Furthermore, it is worth remembering that the band was in a delicate situation in the weeks leading up to the announcement, after a spokesperson confirmed that there was a “deep division” within the group. Furthermore, on October 17 of that year, Jonas' official Twitter account (the new X) was deactivated.

The return of the Jonas Brothers

Six years later, in 2019, the brothers announced that they would return with the group and in celebration, they released the single “Sucker”. The song's music video was announced on the trio's social media and recorded in a luxurious castle, accompanied by his wives: Danielle Jonas, Priyanka Chopra and Joe's ex, actress Sophie Turner.

On X, the old Twitter, the group shared the launch and wrote in an excerpt of the caption: “It’s good to be back”.

Since reuniting, they have released two more albums since returning from hiatus: “Happiness Begins” in 2019 and “The Album” in 2023.

The band, which is already on Brazilian soil, returns to the country after 10 years. In addition to Brazil, the tour through South America will also visit Bogotá, Lima, Santiago and Buenos Aires. To check out more information about the presentation in São Paulo, click here.
