Jordan rules out becoming the “alternative homeland” for Palestinians

Jordan’s King Abdullah II categorically ruled out today any possibility of his country being an “alternative homeland” for Palestinians, stressing that the forced displacement of populations from Israel would constitute a “war crime”. “Let me be absolutely clear: this will never happen. We will never accept the forced displacement of Palestinians, which constitutes a war crime,” he said during his speech at the UN General Assembly, denouncing extremists who continue to promote an “alternative homeland” in Jordan. The Jordanian monarch stressed that “no country can benefit from the current escalation” in the Middle East, condemning Israel’s attack on the Gaza Strip.
