The duo’s singers Jorge & Mateus they said they were going to do a break in the concert schedule after the 20th anniversary tour and gave details about the project that will celebrate this milestone.
“Whoever is with us during this tour will probably be watching the last show of an indefinite period of time that we are going to take to rest. It’s been 20 years — since I was 18 I’ve been away from home every weekend, so we internally decided to take a break”, commented the second voice.
The two commented that the objective of the break is to stay at home with the family and Mateus, in particular, wants to set aside time to dedicate himself to composing again.
In an interview with the YouTube channel André Piunti this Monday (9), Jorge commented that “Another son is coming, Matheus has three little ones too, so we need to give our minds a rest after these 20 years”.
The time of the break, according to them, remains undefined. “It’s more than three months and less than two years […] Let’s see how we feel at home.”
Mateus said he has high expectations for the new tour — which will start in April, after Carnival — because it will already bring the public a demand that will be missing during their break.
“People are used to seeing the duo doing 150 shows a year and there will be a year when there won’t be a show”, commented the singer.
With spoilers for the duo’s 20th anniversary tour, the second voice commented that the show will bring an aesthetic production completely different from what fans have already seen in performances.
“Let’s get out of our comfort zone,” he said.
In addition to Jorge and Mateus, other country artists announced that they will reduce their concert schedule to dedicate themselves to their personal life and other projects, including Luan Santana and Gusttavo Lima.
Remember the duo’s trajectory
The musicians met in Itumbiara, in the interior of Goiás, and formed the group in 2005 — becoming one of the precursors of university country music. Jorge was studying law and Mateus was studying agronomy, and they were introduced by mutual friends.
The duo’s first show was on May 26, 2005, in a nightclub in the city of Goiás. Their debut CD was recorded in the garage of the second voice’s home, with their own compositions and re-recordings of classics of the genre.
In 2007, they recorded their first audiovisual project, “Ao Vivo Em Goiânia”, featuring the song “Pode Chorar”, which gave them national recognition and allowed the duo to have a 20-year career.
