José Ángel Martínez Sanchiz, re-elected president of the General Council of Notaries

On November 28 it was constituted the new General Council of Notaries, which represents the almost 3,000 notaries in Spain and is made up of the deans of the 17 Notarial Associations. The association agreed to the reelection as president of Josà © à ?? ngel MartÃnez Sanchiz (Dean of the Notarial College of Madrid); as vice president of Raimundo Fortunate Marque (dean of the Notarial College of the Balearic Islands), and of Josà © Alberto MarÃn Sánchez (dean of the Notarial College of Catalonia), Ignacio Ferrer Cazorla (dean of the Notarial College of Extremadura) and Francisco Cantos Vià ± als (dean of the Notarial College of Valencia), as members of the Permanent Commission, along with the first two.

“Our primary objective will be strengthen the notarial public faith as an area of ​​freedom and justice and seat of human rights. The notarial function has always gone to meet the person in order to provide legal solutions, especially with respect to the most vulnerable for whatever reasons, personal or financial, “said Jose Ãngel MartÃnez Sanchiz after his re-election.

To achieve this, it will bet on digitization, with the aim that “certain very frequent notarial documents can be carried out without having to go to the notary’s office” and that the citizen can obtain the authorized electronic copy of his deed or policy and take it on your mobile. Possibly, “it’s not science fiction” for the Council.

MartÃnez has been a notary since August 1979 and has been in Madrid since March 1983. He has held various corporate positions, being elected president of the General Council of Notaries for the first time in December 2016. In addition, he is a full-time academic of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation. For his part, the vice-president, Raimundo Fortuà ± y Marquà © s, has been a notary since 1987 and has been in Calviá (Mallorca) since August 1997. He has been re-elected dean of the Balearic Islands Notarial College on three occasions and has been a member of the Permanent Commission of the General Council of Notaries in the last two years.

Also, the president has made clear the social commitment of the new Council, which affirms the usefulness of the notary to improve society. MartÃnez explains that the body will promote, “in line with the New York Convention and the budding reform of the Civil Code and Civil Code of Catalonia, voluntary support for people with disabilities” and that it will I finish an “intersectoral one on the problems of the elderly”, foreseen in the previous Council.
