Through the interview, the actor revealed how he got to the hospital. It turns out that while he was in the recordings of the series Primetime, Juan Pablo began to feel a pain in his stomach, which increased in intensity until he could no longer stand it and had to be taken to the hospital. Fortunately, his father is a doctor, so he asked to be taken with him.

At first, the doctors believed it was poisoning. A couple of days passed in which Juan Pablo does not remember very well what happened, only that he had to stay one more day, until one day he woke up in a hospital bed surrounded by cables and machines. Despite the pain he felt at the time, the only thing the actor had on his mind was to return to the set to continue recording.

They did a CT scan with contrast and found that I had clots in my intestine and legs. They finally found the definitive diagnosis: she had suffered a silent heart attack. She had a clot in her heart and it sent clots through all the arteries. That was the assessment. I was in a lot of pain and to be able to operate on my intestine and legs they had to put me to sleep. When I woke up, I saw myself all swollen, my hands looked like huge balls… It was all very traumatic.

After the operation, they told him that he should continue to be hospitalized, since they detected more clots in his legs. Juan Pablo was very upset about everything that was happening, because he wanted to return to the recordings. In addition, he did not want anyone, not even his girlfriend Paulina Dávila, to see him in those conditions.

However, things got worse and his health became more complicated, so the specialists, his family and his girlfriend talked to him and informed him that he had to make a decision to save his life. They explained to him that if he wanted to continue living, he had to undergo a new surgery, in which they had to amputate his leg, because the more time passed, his health would become more complicated every day, so he had no other option but to accept the operation.

I bet to live. I gathered my family and told them that I accepted. They all supported me. There was no other option. There was no going back.

His father was in charge of coordinating the medical team that would be present at his amputation procedure. Even before his surgery, the actor talked to a psychiatrist, who helped him understand what he was about to go through. Upon waking up from the medical intervention, he did not feel very well, although he wanted to respond to all the positive messages and signs of support that he received, he did not want to see anyone.

I lost weight because I couldn’t sleep for three weeks and the doctors told me that the way to start recovering was basically to rest, but they didn’t give me sleeping pills and insomnia makes your head spin. Not sleeping affected me a lot, they fed me and gave me daily exams and forced me to eat. Now I understand that it was all part of a process. I had to understand things in order to move on.

His girlfriend Paulina Dávila and Triana Casados, who handles all his communication issues, were in charge of investigating and finding the prosthesis he now uses, which has the best technology, is mechatronics and allows him to play tennis.

That is when you ask yourself what you are going to do and what the change will be like. What I wanted was simply to live and from then on I began to think positively.

I want to enjoy what I did win, which was living, which matters more than what I lost.
