A Massachusetts dealer embezzled $2.3 million in bitcoin and received a real life sentence for selling drugs through the EastSideHigh site.
Binh Thanh Le was convicted of criminal activity back in 2019. He was charged with conspiracy to manufacture and distribute drugs. Le founded EastSideHigh at the age of 22, selling various drugs through this dark web site. During the special operation, it turned out that by engaging in illegal activities, Le was able to earn about 59 bitcoins, which were confiscated. Then their cost was $200,000, now it reaches $2.3 million.
In addition to the bitcoins, the perpetrator was found to have over $114,000 in cash plus $42,000 from the sale of the car. At the time of the arrest, law enforcement also found over 44 pounds of ecstasy, over 15 pounds of ketamine, and over 10,000 Xanax tablets.
Massachusetts Attorney Rachel Rollins said Le was sentenced to eight years in prison. After his release, Le will be under the supervision of the American authorities for another three years.
