Julia Roberts says that Luther King Jr. paid the hospital bill for your birth

A previously little-known fact about Julia Roberts has now become widely publicized thanks to social media.

It all started recently, when a user of Twitter shared a video compiled by Julia Roberts and wrote: “Martin Luther King Jr. having paid for her birth is still a little-known fact that shocks me.”

A few days later, in honor of Julia Roberts’ 55th birthday on October 28, the consultant Zara Rahim tweeted a clip where Roberts shares the story about her birth with journalist Gayle King (who is unrelated to Dr. King).

Julia Roberts explained that Dr. King and his wife, Coretta Scott King, paid the hospital expenses in the United States as their parents could not pay the bill.

“My parents had a drama school in Atlanta called Actors and Writers Workshop,” Roberts said. “And one day Coretta Scott King called my mom and asked if her kids could join the school because they were having a hard time finding a place that would accept their kids.”

Roberts’ mother said yes and thus began the friendship between civil rights leaders and the couple Walter and Betty Lou Roberts.

This led the Kings to pay for the birth of the woman who would become an international star.

“They helped us out of a jam,” said Julia Roberts.
