Julian Assange will fly to Australia after pleading guilty in court in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands of the US, according to the WikiLeaks platform X account. A court in Saipan upheld Julian Assange’s plea deal with US justice, which called for the WikiLeaks founder to plead guilty to “conspiracy to obtain and disclose information relating to national security” and sentence him to 62 months in prison, a sentence he has already served in Britain. Julian Assange was released after five years in the Belmars maximum security prison in Britain, while he had spent the previous seven years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The confession was made on Wednesday morning in the federal court of Saipan, the capital of the Northern Mariana Islands, a US commonwealth in the Pacific. Source: RES
