Julian Assange’s wife thrilled – ‘He’ll be free once he gets judge’s signature’

Stella Assange cannot hide her excitement about the imminent release of her husband Julian Assange, after 14 years of legal battle, commenting that the news is “unbelievable”. Assange, 52, agreed to plead guilty to violating US espionage laws, according to the US District Court for the Northern Mariana Islands, in exchange for his release after five years at Belmars maximum security prison in London. He had previously spent seven years locked up in the Ecuadorian embassy in the British capital. “I’m just thrilled,” Stella Assange told BBC radio. “He will be free once he gets the judge’s signature and that will happen sometime tomorrow,” he added, speaking from Sydney, Australia, where Assange is expected to go after appearing in court on the Pacific island of Saipan.
