Juliette speaks out about her conversation with Emicida and refutes accusations of plagiarism

After issuing an official note on social media in the face of accusations of plagiarism due to the release of the song “Magia Amarela”, Juliette used social media this Thursday afternoon (19) to put an end to the controversy.

On Instagram, the singer said that she had spoken personally with the artists responsible for the “AmarElo” project and that everything is now ok.

“[…] I want to reinforce that everything was understood, discussed. I spoke personally and with all the respect in the world with Emicida, with (Evandro) Fióti. There are no opposing sides, there is no intention, neither theirs, nor mine, nor anyone else’s, for people to be hurt, for people to have this energy that is not cool. Everything is fine, everything is calm”, he began.

Next, the former BBB mentioned the “internet court” which, according to her, takes place seven days a week and 24 hours a day.

“There are a few judges who call themselves judges and determine who is an artist and who is not, what is art and what is not, what is good and what is not,” he continued.

“They accused that my work was plagiarized […] There is a difference between references and inspirations, which are available to everyone and are in the public domain, and plagiarism”, he reinforced.

Rebutting other accusations that came to light, Juliette brought the work “Não Sou De Falar de Amor”, in partnership with João Gomes and “Almost Not Namoro”, in collaboration with Marina Sena and shared with her followers the documents that show her inspirations, detailing also the creative process of each project.

“I didn’t know I couldn’t use the northeast blue wall or the shades, references and clothes, but the court doesn’t think so. […] Furthermore, there is the issue of the names of my songs… whatever word you use, it is very rare not to have a song with the same name”, he said.

At the end, the artist spoke about how necessary it is to have an open dialogue with the public. “It is very important to talk about this here with you and for you, because a lie told several times becomes the truth. I don’t want that and neither do you,” she commented.

Understand what happened

Last Wednesday (18), Evandro Fióti, Emicida’s brother, accused the release of the song “Magia Amarela”, sung by Juliette and Duda Beat, of plagiarism.

“I am outraged. I will explain the context of this appropriation, plagiarism and once again a lack of ethics in this market, coming mostly (but not only) from white people. And I reaffirm that this criticism is coherent and goes to the right place, I don’t want hate towards Juliette or Duda”, Evandro published on his profile on X, formerly Twitter.

“It took us 12 years to win a Grammy and the work that won us the Grammy was just stolen conceptually”, said the producer referring to the album “AmarElo”, continued in a live broadcast after the post.

After that, in a statement, Juliette’s advisor said that the song was part of an advertising campaign and that the singer was hired as one of the performers. “The singer’s team is in contact with the contractors responsible for creating and producing the campaign for further clarification”, says the text.

Also through social media, Duda Beat spoke out about the case, confirming that it was a Bauducco campaign, and stating that she was surprised by the situation.

Ultimately, the company decided to cancel the campaign. “Faced with questions about the project and the singers, Bauducco decided to cancel the campaign and will continue talking to the artists involved, for whom it expresses total respect and admiration. In new opportunities, the brand will once again celebrate its iconic color and its message of unity,” he said in a statement.
