The month of July has arrived, which means that cities all over Brazil are gathering special programs for the middle of the year. In Rio de Janeiro It is no different, as the destination is always among the most sought after among national travelers for the period.

Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB-RJ)
The Banco do Brasil Cultural Center presents the exhibition “ETERNAL LIGHT – Essay on the Sun ” during the July holidays. With large-scale immersive works by seven Brazilian artists, the exhibition invites participants to experience the evolution and power of the Sun using digital technology and light as primary elements until August 12th .
“Ruminated Landscapes “, by Luiz Zerbini; and “March 1st 66 “, an exhibition that relives the rich history and architectural importance of the Cultural Center building, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary, is also on display during the month.
Already from 4th to 10th July , the Rio LGBTQIA+ International Film Festival 2024 will have national and international titles shown in rooms 1 and 2 of the space. The event has been taking place since 2011 and its social and cultural relevance is due to the reaffirmation of the freedom of artistic creation given the growing need for tolerance and respect for differences.

Museum of Tomorrow

Opened in 2015, the Museum of Tomorrow is already considered one of the most iconic tourist attractions in Rio. Visiting its structure in itself has become a beautiful outing. Housed in the old Mauá pier, it uses technology to promote interactive science experiences.
For July, visitors will find the main exhibition, “Trends for Tomorrow “, which aims to examine the past, present current trends and explore possible scenarios for the next 50 years from the perspectives of sustainability and coexistence. In addition, the exhibition “Experiment with Science ” is a laboratory of senses and experiments. Until September the museum invites the public to visit interactive rooms, exploring three thematic areas: Phenomena in the world; Learning and doing; and Imagining the future. Rio Art Museum (MAR)

O Rio Art Museum reserves some exhibitions during the month of July, such as “FUNK: A Cry of Boldness and Freedom” which goes through the contexts of funk carioca through history. It is on display until August and articulates the trajectory of the rhythm beyond its sonority.
The exhibition “Pleasure Block ” presents to the public parties and celebrations that configure moments of joy, catharsis, trance and desire of Brazilian culture. Its title refers to the song of the same name released in 1982 and performed by Gal Costa. It is shown until July 14th .
A “Nhe’ẽ Porã: Memory and Transformation ”, in turn, presents the beauties of the indigenous languages of Brazil, bringing together ethnographic and archaeological objects, audiovisual installations and works of art. Also on display is until July 14th .
There, visitors will still find the “Pamuri Pati – World of Transformation” by indigenous artist Daiara Tukano, which addresses the social transformations that can be observed from the perspective of women and the indigenous people themselves; and also the most recent “Resign / Mobi “, which presents the city of São Luís from the 1970s to the 2000s through the work of Maranhão photographer Mobi. Botanical Garden Museum

The Botanical Garden opened its museum in March, a cultural space dedicated to long-term and short-term exhibitions, with immersive and interactive installations. Admission is free.
In July, the public will find “Much More Than A Garden ”, an exhibition that seeks to bring the essence of the new space through eight experiences. One of the highlights is the work “Kapok: Cup, House, Cosmos ” that provides an immersive experience in the Sumaúma, an Amazonian tree present in the Botanical Garden’s living collection and loaded with symbolism. Jaguar Parade

A Jaguar Parade is an artistic movement that aims to raise awareness about the need to preserve the jaguar and its habitat. This is done through an open-air exhibition with dozens of jaguar sculptures customized by different artists. The demonstration, which has already taken place in São Paulo, Florianópolis, Belo Horizonte and even New York, has landed in Rio and continues until August .
Until July 10, Village Mall will be the studio for the “Live Painting” sessions. Artists such as João Incerti, Bruna Frog, Albarte, Alejandro Saavedra, Pri Artte, Car Moss and Edu Ribeiro will paint the sculptures live in front of the public. Between July 12 and August 11, they will be displayed in squares, beaches, parks and tourist spots and will be auctioned on August 13 at the Fairmont Hotel. All proceeds will go to the NGOs Onçafari, Panthera, Ampara Silvestre and FAZ.

Warner House

A Warner House is an interactive exhibition that provides fans with experiences inspired by favorite series, films and characters from Warner Bros. franchises.
After a success in São Paulo, the 2024 edition will arrive in Rio to celebrate Batman’s 85th birthday, with an entire area dedicated to the character. Those who like Superman and his interpreter, Christopher Reeve, will be able to see the cape worn by the actor in the film in person.
“Harry Potter”, “Lord of the Rings”, “Anabelle” and other titles also take place in the space of more than 1,500 m² at Shopping Nova América. The event continues until August 31st .

Winter Festival – Marina da Gloria

In July 5th to 14th Marina da Glória will receive the Rio Winter Festival . Dozens of shows by big names in Brazilian music are scheduled to take place during the period. Ney Matogrosso, Nando Reis, Arnaldo Antunes, Frejat, Maria Rita, Ana Carolina, Alcione, Pitty, Vanessa da Mata, Thiaguinho, Péricles and Marcelo D2 are some of the names on the list.

90’s Festival
Inspired by the culture of the 1990s, the event has its first edition in July 19th, 20th and 21st . Just like the Winter Festival, it also takes place at Marina da Glória and the program includes names such as Daniela Mercury, Cidade Negra, Gabriel O Pensador, Fernanda Abreu, Ed Motta, Buchecha, Marcelo Falcão, É o Tchan and Timbalada.

Fan Zone – Copa America
The Copa América will be held in the United States until July 14. A complete structure has been set up on Copacabana beach to broadcast all of Brazil’s games. The program includes shows by Xande de Pilares, Fundo de Quintal, Tony Garrido and DJ performances. If Brazil advances in the competition, new attractions will be announced at the venue. Stand-up “Porchat Stories”
Comedian Fábio Porchat returned to Rio with his stand-up show “Histórias do Porchat”. He comically tells stories collected during his travels, from encountering gorillas on safari in Africa to having a stomach ache in Nepal. The event is on display until July 21st at the Multiplan theater, in the Village Mall Shopping Mall.

Piece “Now it’s their turn”

Directed and written by Fábio Porchat, the play “Agora É Que São Elas” is on stage until the end of July at Teatro dos Quatro. Actresses and comedians Maria Clara Gueiros, Júlia Rabello and Priscila Castello Branco go beyond the gender issue and transform themselves into 20 characters, both male and female, as the protagonists of nine sketches.
