They will also be extinct in reality, but the fascination of dinosaurs certainly does not go out of style in the cinema. She confirms it – if ever there was a need – Jurassic World: Dominationjust landed in the hall and already in first place in the box office.
According to the very first data of the Italian box office, the result is surprising, with over 3 million takings in the debut weekend (thanks to the long weekend of 2 June). The weekend saw the third installment of the saga surpass the cult of Tom Cruise Top Gun: Maverick (which in the meantime has almost reached 7 million total).
Till now in the rest of the world the proceeds were close to 55 and a half million (the previous film has exceeded the billion) and, according to forecasts, the film should become the most viewed this summer (in the United States it will debut next June 19).
The idea of bringing together two generations of heroes, the original trio of Jurassic Park (Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum) with the new recruits (Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard)it turned out to be absolutely successful.
The promotion of the cast took place around the world, from Mexico to Germany, with great success, despite the great absence of the protagonist Chris Pratt (stayed at home next to his second wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, expecting the second child). The actor on Instagram talked about “daddy duty” and unleashed the emotion of the fans, as well as the hilarity of the audience for having inserted himself in the images of the premieres with Photoshopp through a series of hilarious shots .
The first critics – awaiting the reactions of the stars and stripes press – are enthusiastic: Colin Trevorrow’s new project frightens and thrills in equal measure. «A film – he writes The Naciòn – which uses glorious legends of the franchise to offer an incredible emotional journey for the new characters ».
“You return to the original spirit of the saga,” he echoes Otroscines. “He has a huge dose of nostalgia and, above all, remains faithful to his predecessors,” he notes Cine Premiere.
This chapter, which (perhaps) marks the end of a 30-year long era, puts the “plus” sign in front of all the hitherto beloved elements. Never before has such a large number of dinosaurs been seen in the cinema. They are bigger, more mysterious, more dangerous. The new frontier, in fact, is given by the daring and courageous hypothesis of imagining a world where not only these creatures are not extinct but live in contact with humans, coexisting in a bizarre and disturbing way.
The answer is yes: dinosaurs continue to fascinate and don’t lose a single ounce of their appeal. The idea of being able to meet these giants of the past fascinates the new generations as happened with the previous ones. One might think that the artistic and creative vein has long since died out, but no. There is never enough of it, in any shape, size and circumstance (just look at the latest post by Chris Pratt on Instagram playing with LEGO sets dedicated to the saga together with Will Arnett…). And if you add an exceptional cast with well-defined characters to them, then the recipe for success is served.
