In 2017, Google announced the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones, which were created by HTC and LG, respectively. According to the original plan, HTC was supposed to release the Pixel 2 XL, but in the end the smartphone was entrusted to LG.
Now, on the YouTube channel, Calyx Hikari has published a video showing us the canceled prototype of the Pixel 2 XL made by HTC, which was codenamed Muskie. It was previously thought to be similar to the HTC U11 +, however the video confirms that this is not the case.
The smartphone just had huge bezels above and below the display, which are much larger than the HTC U11 + and the Pixel 2 XL. In this regard, it matched the Pixel 2, which also received wide bezels and a screen with an aspect ratio of 16: 9.
On the back, a two-tone finish and a single camera with flash are visible, which are in the upper left corner. The phone also had a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. In the video, the device is controlled with a wireless mouse, as it does not respond to touch input.
The video also confirms that the smartphone was running the Android Oreo operating system with the May 2017 security patch.
The released Pixel 2 XL uses an 18: 9 aspect ratio display with narrower bezels.
