Pregnant with her first daughter, the result of her romance with actor Ricardo Vianna, 32, the artist is admitted to the Semi-Intensive Unit to monitor both her clinical status and her baby’s development, according to the medical bulletin shared on Wednesday ( 22).
According to data from the Brazilian Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (Febrasgo), the incidence of pre-eclampsia in Brazil varies from 1.5% to 7% . The condition does not have a single defined cause, but is related to risk factors such as pre-existing hypertension, type 1 or 2 diabetes before pregnancy, kidney disease, autoimmune diseases or the use of in vitro fertilization, according to the Mayo Clinic.
If left untreated, it can progress to eclampsia, which can lead to seizures or HELLP syndrome, which involves impairment of the liver and platelets.

“In the early hours of Sunday to Monday I felt very unwell. I started vomiting a lot, feeling sick, feeling strange. We repeated the tests and I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia and we scheduled the cesarean section for the same day,” he said on social media.
Scherer also stated that she had high blood pressure and other complicated moments in the maternity ward. “The birth was beautiful, peaceful, but afterward my blood pressure rose a lot. It took me a long time to recover and be able to come to the room. I still had some pressure spikes, which generated anxiety attacks and increased the pressure even more. I took some medicine to calm down and I got a bit high”, he added.
Maite Perroni
Known for playing Lupita in RBD, actress Maite Perroni, 41, faced the diagnosis during Lía’s pregnancy. In an interview with a Mexican outlet, the star gave details of what happened.
“At the end of my pregnancy I had pre-eclampsia and it was a very delicate moment. It inevitably made me gain a lot of weight and also created a risk during childbirth. I needed to have a cesarean section because my blood pressure was already very high and there was a risk if I tried to have a natural birth. All of this was a huge challenge and, on top of that, I was 30 kg overweight and three months away from being on stage starting the RBD tour… All of this was a whirlwind (…)”, he said.
Nanda Costa
Mother of twins Kim and Titê, 3, actress Nanda Costa, 38, anticipated her pregnancy due to the diagnosis.
“My blood pressure rose, my kidneys started to fail and, at 35 weeks and 3 days of pregnancy, we needed to bring the birth forward. Pre-eclampsia! My obstetrician was precise, surgical and, thank God, saved my life! My wife didn’t leave my side for even a second,” he said on Instagram.
