Justice decrees preventive detention of one of the accused of the murder of Pedrinho Matador

One of those responsible for the death of the Brazilian serial killer Pedrinho Matador was identified and had the preventive decreed by the Justice. The information was confirmed by the Civil Police of Mogi das Cruzes, who stated that the case is still under investigation by the Homicide and Person Protection Sector (SHPP) of the city.

The inquiry, which investigates qualified homicide, however, is under secrecy. A CNN sought the São Paulo Court of Justice and awaits a decision.

Pedrinho Matador was killed on March 5 of this year, aged 68. The man, known as one of the biggest serial killers in the country, was walking through the streets of Mogi das Cruzes when he was shot by a firearm. The suspects fled shortly after the crime.

Pedro Rodrigues Filho was born in the interior of Minas Gerais and raised in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. The criminal gained notoriety in the 1980s when he was sentenced to nearly 300 years in prison for killing dozens of people, in addition to committing other crimes.

Pedrinho served more than 40 years in prison, between comings and goings, but he had been released since 2018.

In 2021, the serial killer gave an interview to a podcast in which he said he doesn’t regret any of the crimes he committed.
