Judge Raphael Ernane Neves, of the First Criminal Court of the Foro de Registro, in the interior of São Paulo, decreed this Wednesday (22) the preventive detention of prosecutor Demétrius Oliveira de Macedo, who was recorded assaulting the attorney general of the municipality Gabriela Samadello Monteiro de Barros.
The Civil Police opened an investigation to investigate the case, gathering photos and videos of the aggression. Barros’ testimony was also added to the investigation and used in the police application.
Also on Wednesday, the São Paulo Police Ombudsman, Elizeu Soares Lopes, requested Macedo’s temporary arrest “in order to safeguard the victim’s rights.” However, the court ordered the prosecutor’s preventive detention.
According to the dispatch of delegate Daniel Vaz Rocha, of the 1st Police District of Record, Macedo “has been having serious problems in the relationship with women in the work environment, and, in freedom, he exposes their lives to danger, and consequently, the public order.”
The mayor of Registro, Nilton Hirota (PSDB), said that the aggression is “execrable and abominable”, preventively suspended the prosecutor from his activities for 30 days and affirmed that everything possible will be done “within the procedures of the law”.

In the incident report obtained by the CNN , Gabriela narrates that, around 4:50 pm on Monday, Macedo left her room and came towards her, elbowing her in the head and throwing her against the wall. The aggressor followed with punches against the colleague, who fell to the ground.
To the Civil Police, the prosecutor reported that the suspect had been, for a few months, having a “gross attitude” with another employee of the sector, who sought out Gabriela to denounce Macedo’s “improper” behavior.
In view of the events, in addition to the fact that another employee said she was “afraid of working”, the prosecutor filed a proposal for a disciplinary administrative procedure against Macedo. On Monday, a publication in the Official Gazette of the Municipality reported that a commission had been formed to investigate the facts.
“The deponent believes that for this reason Demetrius assaulted her”, concludes the report.
In a note sent to CNN , the Civil Police informs that the case was registered as a bodily injury and is being investigated by the Women’s Defense Department of Record. “The unit’s team has already heard the victim and the aggressor and is awaiting the results of the expert examinations for analysis and elucidation of the facts. Details will be preserved to guarantee the autonomy of police work”, says a statement.
