The court of Rio de Janeiro converted to preventive arrest in the act of Rayane Aragão Pereira, arrested on suspicion of burning the apartment of his ex-boyfriend in Copacabana. The case occurred last Saturday (15).
Judge Andressa Maria converted the arrest in the act of preventive last Monday (17), considering the severity of the crime and the risk to public order.
The magistrate also determined the investigation of an allegation of police assault during Rayane’s arrest, as well as the examination of a body of crime and medical follow-up to the former team partner, due to asthma reports.
According to the Court of Justice, the decision was based on the severity of the crime, with Rayane settling in the victim’s apartment with apparent intention to kill her; at risk to public order, the need to guarantee the application of criminal law and in the absence of proof of fixed residence and lawful activity by the accused.
The case will go to the competent court, where the investigation and the provision of a complaint continues, while Rayane remains pre -tried.

Rayane Aragão Pereira, 24, was arrested in the act after setting fire to his ex-boyfriend’s apartment last Saturday (15), at Leopoldo Miguez Street, in Copacabana, south of Rio de Janeiro.
According to the case file, Rayane met the victim in a restaurant in December 2024 and, in January 2025, formalized a dating contract.
According to the registration of occurrence, after the end of the relationship, Rayane would have refused to leave the property, demanding money for this. The woman would also have threatened her ex-boyfriend with verbal and physical aggressions as a way to press him.
The man registered an extortion police report last Friday (14). The next day (15), Rayane would have refused to leave the victim’s apartment and demand a property in return.
Rayane then set fire to the apartment and tried to escape, but was arrested in the act. During the occurrence, an application delivery man arrived with three bottles of alcohol, requested by Rayane moments before the fire.
The woman was arrested in the act by the police and taken to the 12th DP (Copacabana). In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the suspect was charged in the act for the crime of damage to the use of flammable or explosive substance.
