Justice for Moïse: Death of Congolese is one of the most talked about topics on Twitter

More than 38,000 tweets with the hashtag “#JustiçaparaMoise” were published until tonight (1). With demonstrations by artists, authorities and football players, the death of the Congolese was among the most talked about topics on Twitter.

Moïse Mugenyi Kabagambe, 24, died after being attacked by men at a kiosk in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, where he worked.

The boy was a Flamengo fan. On social media, the club regretted what happened and offered solidarity to the family. The club’s striker, Gabigol, also spoke about the case.

“This is not the Rio that I learned to love and that welcomed me with open arms!!! We want justice, we cannot normalize crimes like this!! May justice be done to Moïse Mugenyi and his entire family!! We are together with you!!! #JusticaPorMoiseMugenyi,” the player wrote.

Singer Caetano Veloso was one of the artists who offered his condolences to the family and expressed sadness at what had happened.

“I cried today reading about the murder of Moïse Mujenyi Kabagambe in a kiosk in Barra da Tijuca,” Veloso said.

The singer Ludmilla said that what happened with Moïse was a case of racism.

“Once again the cheapest meat on the market is black meat,” he wrote.

Other personalities such as the volleyball player Fernanda Garay, the singer Teresa Cristina and the drummer of the band Paralamas do Sucesso, João Barone, also expressed their indignation in the networks for the death of the Congolese.
