The São Paulo Court of Justice accepted the prosecutor’s complaint and made defendants Jeferson de Souza Jesus and Erik Benedito Veríssimo for the crime of factual reason for futile reasons. They are accused of killing, in February last year, cyclist Vitor Medrado. The crime occurred in the south of São Paulo.
In his decision, Judge Marcus Alexandre Manhães Bastos, of the 30th Criminal Court, emphasizes the danger of the defendants, highlighting the risk that their eventual release may represent.
“The case causes intense perplexity in the face of the conduct apparently adopted by the accused. They killed the victim as those who squeeze an ant with their thumb. There is no smallest lavity indicative of humanity feeling before a similar.” The judge wrote.
The crime occurred on February 13 in the Itaim Bibi neighborhood, a prime area of São Paulo. Vitor was murdered without reaction to being approached by two men on a motorcycle while standing on a bicycle around 6am.
The motorcycle rider, known as “Gordo da Paraisópolis”, was arrested on March 19 and has tickets for trafficking and receiving. The suspect who shot Vitor was arrested on March 8.
Police had already arrested, on February 18, the woman who would have financed the cyclist’s murder on February 18. Suedna Barbosa Carneiro, 41, known as “Maina do Crime” was arrested in Paraisópolis, in the south of São Paulo.
