The Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TJ-RJ) ordered the shelving of the police investigation against Yago Correa de Souza, 21, who was arrested in early February, accused of drug trafficking, after having gone to buy bread for a barbecue in Jacarezinho, north of Rio de Janeiro. The boy was on provisional release, decided in a custody hearing, but would have to comply with precautionary measures.
In addition to filing, Judge Gisele Guida de Faria, from the 38th Criminal Court, decided to send the investigation to the Military Police Internal Affairs and to exclude Yago’s photographs from the police station system.
According to the TJ-RJ note, after making the act, the police authority itself recommended the release of the boy, since there was doubt that Yago was guilty. For the delegate, “Yago would be in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
The TJ-RJ also reported that, in an informal conversation with the police, a minor who was also apprehended by the PM did not mention his connection with Yago. Neighbors and relatives testified in favor of the accused, saying that he had gone to the bakery.

Yago is a delivery boy and was arrested on February 6th. According to the defense lawyer, Vivaldo Lucio Neto, when leaving the bakery, the delivery man noticed a confusion involving military police and, fearful, took shelter in a pharmacy, where he ended up being detained by the military.
The Jacarezinho resident was arrested and charged with drug trafficking. The Military Police claimed that the young man was next to a minor, who was carrying a bag with 150 grams of marijuana and 30 grams of cocaine. Yago spent two days in prison until the Rio de Janeiro court ordered his provisional release.
THE CNN had access to security camera footage from the bakery and pharmacy where the young man passed, which prove the entire version of the family and the lawyer. In the images, it is possible to see the delivery man entering the bakery with his shirt up, showing his empty waist. Soon after, he leaves with a bag of bread in his hand.
