The singer Justin Timberlake performed his first show since being arrested for drunk driving, last Tuesday (18). During the concert, which took place at the United Center in Chicago, United States, the artist opened up about what had happened and thanked his fans for their support.
“We’ve been through ups and downs together, back and forth, and it’s been a difficult week, but we’re here,” said Timberlake, followed by a standing ovation from the audience. “I know that sometimes I’m hard to love. But you still love me and I love you too,” he added.

Understand the case
Timberlake was arrested and charged in the early hours of Tuesday (18) for drunk driving in Sag Harbor, New York. The information was confirmed by the singer’s lawyer, who explains that the artist would not have stopped in front of a “Stop” sign and was unable to stay in the lane in which he was driving.
The arresting officer claimed that the artist’s eyes were “red and contracted” and that a strong odor of alcohol emanated from his breath. The musician’s behavior was also described as disoriented, with difficulty dividing attention, slow speech, unsteadiness when walking, and unsatisfactory performance on all field sobriety tests administered.
After being taken to the police station, the report was read aloud to Justin. When asked to perform a clinical exam, he responded, “No, I’m not going to do a chemical test.”
Even after reading the report twice more, he protested: “I refuse [a fazer o teste químico]”.
The NSYNC band member was then charged with drunk driving and received two fines: one for running straight through a stop sign and another for not staying in the correct lane.
The singer was released on the afternoon of the same day without having to pay bail, but will have to appear in court on July 26th.
