The compensation of 2,000 euros to the citizens who suffered on Attiki Odos will be given immediately, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Costas Karamanlis, told SKAI.
He stressed that those who wish, have the opportunity to go to court and claim greater compensation.
The minister said that this is the first time that citizens have the opportunity to receive compensation from those responsible for their suffering.
As he explained, this possibility was given by a law of the current Government, which means that the State is obliged to recognize the failures and to transform them into essential actions.
Mr. Karamanlis announced that within 25 days the conclusion will be given about what exactly is happening on Attiki Odos and if there should be sanctions, there will be and they will be very strict.
“From now on we do not put or hide things under the rug”, stressed Mr. Karamanlis and added: “We will calmly investigate all the data and will assign responsibilities wherever they exist”.
A similar procedure will be followed with the problems observed with TRAINOSE.
As the Minister mentioned, the problem with the trains was created because TRAINOSE allowed 4 trains to depart on Monday afternoon, as a result of which the known problems were created.
He also stated that “today is the first day, during which, thanks to the efforts of all employees and the management of the companies, we currently have more than 710 vehicles on the roads”, which – as he noted – are more than take to the streets on holidays, as it was declared today. “Early this morning, at 5:00, an extraordinary meeting took place. The OSY supervisors went out on the streets and saw the situation and we decided that the buses would leave,” the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport added.
He also noted that Metro Lines 2 and 3 are operating normally, adding that “an order has been given to clear all the stairs leading to the Metro stations, because there is frost and we must be careful.”
