“History was written tonight. We believed in Double Regeneration. So much so that to make it a reality we did what we could and even more.
I am very happy because the people of Panathinaikos justified our effort. A big thank you to everyone.
The Municipality of Athens will continue with the same zeal and dedication, so that our commitments are fully respected. From now on, Panathinaikos and Athenians deserve to be only proud. The future belongs to Panathinaikos, the future belongs to Athens “.
Panathinaikos: With 2,051 votes in favor and a percentage of 68.5%, the three contracts of “Double Regeneration” were voted in favor
The members of Amateur Panathinaikos, voted with 68.5% in the vote on Wednesday (30/3) the three contracts of “Double Regeneration” (with the Municipality of Athens, PAE Panathinaikos and AEP Eleonas) and now the final “green light” was given to proceed and implement the project, which had from the beginning as the “spearhead” the construction of a new football field and facilities of A.O. in the area of Votanikos.
With 2,051 votes “for” and 934 votes “against”, a total of 2,994 voters – plus 5 blank and 4 invalid – exceeded (by a very marginal margin) after a night of “thriller”, 2/3 of the votes needed under Statute of the Amateur to vote in favor of the project.
And now from the morning of Thursday (31/3), the next moves for the signing of the contracts by the involved parties and the final approvals are required, in order to launch the procedures for the implementation of the double intervention plan in Alexandra Avenue and Botanical.
It is noted that in yesterday’s vote of the members of the Sports Club, 2,994 out of the 4,284 members who had the right to vote voted.
The funds that will be required for the whole of the “Double Regeneration” reach 267 million euros, with the money already secured. Of these, from the EU Recovery and Resilience Fund. (RRF), EUR 140 million have already been approved for infrastructure projects in the two regenerating areas.
From there on, the new football stadium in the area of Votanikos – cost 115 million euros – will be financed by the Public Investment Program (the relevant dossier has already been pre-approved by the competent ministries and has been “entered” in the new state budget), while the facilities of the Amateur will be constructed at the expense of the GDP of Eleonas (Alpha Bank and Piraeus), which will pay the amount of 12 million euros for their construction.
Finally, the mobilization of private investments in the area (creation of office building, facilities of former Softex factory, creation of warehouses of former factory Lebanon, facilities of GDP building Eleonas, relocation of KTEL station, facilities of former Soulis factory), is expected to reach a decade later of the project – in the amount of 470 million euros.
